Dan and Irene from Mizen Head to Malin Head

Dan and Irene, two cycling enthusiasts are planning something very special. In a mere 19 days the pair will be attempting an 870km cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head to support cancer research projects aimed at understanding and treating cancer.

The pair are taking part in the event known as the 2014 Rugby Legends Charity Cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head which takes place from 6th – 12th September. This will see a host of international rugby legends, cyclists & friends take part in the event and will raise vital funds for C.R.O.S.S. Cancer Research Charity. The acronym C.R.O.S.S. stands for Cancer Research of the Oesophagus and Stomach at St James’s Hospital.

About C.R.O.S.S.

The mission of the registered charity C.R.O.S.S. is to support Cancer Research and improve patient care at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Trinity College and St. James’s Hospital. The charity does this through supporting the education and training of high quality medical and scientific students in their careers as young cancer researchers.

The charity also invests in laboratory equipment to drive translational research projects aimed at the prevention, understanding and treatment of various forms of cancer.

C.R.O.S.S. has previously been honoured by Munster Rugby as a charity worthy of their support for the 2011/2012 season. The association with Munster has helped C.R.O.S.S. in their mission to support cancer research and improve patient care across Munster and Leinster.
