on

The Richard Harris Film Festival announced the first year of their Irish short film competition, which will be in conjunction with the American Newport Beach Film Festival. Irish filmmakers are invited to submit short films of no more than 15 minutes for the competition.

Not only will selected films be screened during this year’s Richard Harris International Film Festival on Saturday, October 25, they will also be considered for the Newport Beach Film Festival 2015.

“We are extremely proud to be able to offer this fantastic and unique opportunity to Irish filmmakers!” The organisers of the Richard Harris Film Festival said.

The Richard Harris Film Festival was created to celebrate the life and career of its namesake. Though dedicated to the outstanding actor, filmmaker, director, theatrical producer and poet, it aims to also be a showcase for young Irish filmmakers. As well as benefiting other Limerick creative communities, such as her short film community, theatrical performers and writers.

The Newport Beach Film Festival has the largest shorts programme within a major film festival in the United States. They screen over 200 short films in more than 25 programmes. This gives Irish filmmakers the opportunity to be featured in both of these amazing festivals. In addition they will also gain international exposure at one of North America’s most prestigious film festivals.
