It’s the latest sustainable initiative being rolled out by Limerick Smarter Travel which recently installed free bike parking spaces at a number of city centre multi-storey car parks.

Located at the City Centre Car Park (Anne St. entrance), Howley’s Quay Car Park (Henry St entrance) and Denmark St Car Park (Ellen St entrance), the bike lockers are complemented by on-site CCTV.

Limerick Smarter Travel says the initiative enables cyclists to securely park their bicycles and helps to promote the Public Bicycle Share Scheme for Limerick City Centre.

“These lockers are free to use and do not require pre-booking unlike in other locations throughout Ireland. They work exactly like a shopping trolley, simply insert a €1 coin and you get your coin back when you return to collect your bike,” stated Pat O’Neill, Project Manager, Limerick Smarter Travel.

“This initiative seeks to encourage the public to consider using their bikes when going to work or shop in and around the city centre. By providing parking facilities we are making the city centre more accessible and at no cost to cyclists,” Mr. O’Neill added.
