The Lime Tree Theatre agreement with the Limerick City and County Council has seen the signing of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Limerick City and County Council Arts Office is set to undertake the management and programming of the former Belltable Arts Centre.

The Lime Tree Theatre also has reached agreement with the relevant authorities to acquire the trading name and therefore use the iconic Belltable name, which has been synonymous with the local and national Irish arts scene since the early 1980s.

A new brand for the venue will be officially launched in early 2016.

The new Belltable will host a wide range of arts events that will extend and compliment the programme at the Lime Tree Theatre. The offices in the former Credit Union building recently refurbished will provide office space, rehearsal space, hot-desks and administration services to emerging, mid-career and established artists who want to create, develop and make new work.

“This exciting revival of this significant venue means that it will once again be at the centre of arts development and practice in the city,” said Sheila Deegan, Limerick Arts Officer.

“The new Belltable under the management of the Lime Tree Theatre will be a further boost to the thriving arts sector,” added Ms. Deegan.

Mayor of Jerry O’Dea, Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick commented: “I am confident we will see the Belltable bringing a new energy to the upper O’Connelll Street area and the staff of the Lime Tree Theatre will engage with the local arts sector to create a new artistic vision for the city, the county and the Mid-West.”
