Make A Move Festival 2015 Returns July 2-5
The Make a Move Festival 2015 returns from July 2-5 and will involve workshops in music, dance and street art.
Make A Move is a hip hop festival that has been running in Limerick city since 2012. The festival emerged out of a community arts workshop and has been developed by a team of local volunteers and community development organisations. Make A Move seeks to capture the revolutionary spirit and underground traditions of hip hop culture and engage young people through hip hop music, dance and urban art. The festival aims to put young Limerick artists across a variety of disciplines to the forefront as well as celebrating the wide range of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds from the city and beyond.
The opening of the festival takes place on Thursday July 2 at 6pm showcasing rappers from their workshop in conjunction with Music Generation Limerick. This will take place in the Learning Hub Youth Café in Kileely,
Limerick.
At 9pm on Thursday The Blind Pig are set to host the launch of Naive Ted’s new album ‘The Inevitable Heel Turn’ with support on the night from Graeme S, Senita & Bethaniens Dust. Admission €5.

On Friday July 3 from 7-8pm, there will be a Writer’s Bench walking tour with Paul Tarpey assembling outside King Johns Castle.
At 9pm on Friday the festivities continue as Rusangano Family play live in Kasbah Social Club, Dock Road with support from Joni and Richie !Kaboogie. Admission €10.
On Saturday July 4 at 2pm novelist Kevin Barry will sit down for discussion with Irish Times journalist Jim Carroll at Shannon Rowing Club. Admission €5.
From 1-6pm on Saturday July 4, random acts of dance and art will take place in different locations across the city – seek them out!
At 6pm on Saturday there will be a Hip Hop film screening at The Stormy Teacup café – free of charge.
At 9pm on Saturday night DJ Peter Curtin takes to The Blind Pig for a night to remember – free of charge.
On Sunday July 5 from 2.30-6pm, rebirth dance battles and showcases all styles of breakdance in John’s Square. Admission €5.
From 9pm-close on Sunday night there will be a wrap party at The Blind Pig featuring Same D4ence, Apocalypse, TSM (True Street Music), Dreddy, Bubba Jay and DJ Ace . Admission is free.
