Limerick business The Zip Yard Franchising Ltd, Ireland’s only clothing alterations and restyling franchise has scooped the coveted Franchise of the Year – Retail Award at the Irish Franchise Association Awards which took place on Friday, March 27 at the Clyde Court Hotel in Dublin. The award presented by Minister Kevin Humphreys TD recognises the outstanding achievement of this Limerick-based business in building the franchise since its inception in 2009 and creating and protecting over 135 sustainable jobs through 25 shops nationwide.

Commenting on the award win, Caroline Wallace, Proprietor of The Zip Yard on Thomas Street, Limerick and a Director of The Zip Yard Franchising says, “We are delighted to bring this prestigious award back to our home town. All new franchise training is done in the Thomas Street shop and it’s from here where we began creating and developing this new retail experience in alterations and fashion remodelling which we have now taken nationwide.”

The Zip Yard has set its sights on future expansion in the Irish market with another shop due to open in Dublin over the coming weeks, bringing to 26 the number of shops nationwide. The plan is to open 5 shops by the end of 2016 which will bring employment figures close to 150.
