Focus Ireland asks everyone to participate in Broadway Challenge

Published

Limerick’s first ever Broadway Challenge will see local companies and community groups perform a hit musical at the Grand National South Court Hotel on the 1st of December in aid of the housing and homeless charity Focus Ireland.

The event will raise much needed funds for the charity’s frontline services in Limerick and across the country which support families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness or those at risk of losing their homes. The fundraiser comes as recent figures show 1 in 3 now homeless in Ireland is a child – with over 2,000 children living in emergency accommodation.

Focus Ireland has provided homeless services in Limerick since 1998 and the charity is urging the public to get involved in The Broadway Challenge to raise vital funds for their services which are on the frontline of the homeless crisis in Limerick and across the country.

The charity is calling on local companies and community groups to sign-up for ‘The Broadway Challenge’ which is set to be a great team building event and one the whole organisation can get involved with – either by participating in the Broadway show or by supporting the team on performance night.

Each organisation that takes part must enter a team of 8-12 participants who are given a Broadway Show to rehearse and perform on show night. Shows include; Mama Mia, Sister Act, Chicago, Les Miserables, Grease, Footloose, Hairspray, Thriller and more.

All skill levels are welcome and performers will receive professional support and training over a period of six weeks with rehearsals starting on the 16th of October. Teams will compete in front of an audience of their friends, family and colleagues who will vote for the winning team along with local well known judges from the world of musicals, media and entertainment.

Tickets to the event will cost €25 and all performers will be provided with 10 tickets to sell to their friends, family and colleagues. Teams will also be required to seek sponsorship of €200 from their place of work or local companies.

If you are interested in taking part in this fantastic event and raise funds for those experiencing homelessness contact Lysinda McNamara on 086 8223690 or Lysinda.mcnamara@focusireland.ie. The deadline for registration is Friday the 16th of September.
