This year the Polish Art Festival 2016 its 10 year anniversary celebrates a decade of bringing a new voice to Limerick. The Polish Art Festival 2016 runs at the Hunt Museum and the Belltable Theatre from 29 September – 14 October 2016.

The Polish Art Festival 2016 (PAF) exists on the agenda of the local events for the past 10 years and the Polish Embassy in Dublin has always supported them with the Polish Ambassador to Ireland and the Mayor of Limerick always opening the Festival. They are proud to have been selected as one of the Made in Limerick Project by the Limerick City of Culture 2014.

Justyna Cwojdzinska, PAF Artistic Director said, “Our mission statement is to promote Polish and Irish culture through the collaboration and exploration of the diverse heritage of both nations. They strive to find similarities between them and build strong common understanding based on intercultural exchange.”

The theme of Polish Art Festival 2016 is “VOICE”.  The core of the Festival is an exhibition of talented Polish artist Paweł Jasiński and handcraft of Anna Bernat -Mścisz. The Polish Art Festival 2016 runs for 2 weeks and during that time they are going to have 6 main events that attract a big audience.

The Official Opening takes place on September 29 at 4pm in The Hunt Museum hosted by the Mayor of Limerick and Polish Ambassador to Ireland Mr Ryszrad Sarkowicz.

The PAF Kids Family Day takes place on October 1 in The Hunt Museum. During PAF Kids Family Day they will offer a wide range of workshops for children (clay, wax candles, clothes for your puppets, felt, basic drawing technique) and a chance to meet with the artists that will showcase their work in the Arts & Crafts & Food Fair on the day. A special guest of the day is a well-known Limerick writer Roisin Meaney who will be storytelling for children at 12:15pm. The storytelling will be done in 6 languages (English, Polish, Slovakian, Iranian, Japanese and Spanish).

The Voice Encounters Project running October 7–9, welcomes artists who wish to take part in the Final Gala Performance taking place on October 9 at 8pm in the Belltable. (tickets via Lime Tree Theatre).

On October 14, VOICE of Poetry evening at 8pm in Chez La Fab, Arthur’s Quay Park, the PAF in association with Limerick Writers’ Centre, welcomes four Irish and Polish poets with writers Deirdre Grimes, Justyna Kosmulska, John Liddy and Piotr Surmaczewski.
