The annual Shine a Light work night takes place October 21

Focus Ireland, a national charity which works with those who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless are hosting a “shine a light” work night this October 21.Shine a Light work night

Shine a Light work night, which is in its second successful year running, is encouraging local businesses to be part of something amazing and help Focus Ireland reach even more children, families and individuals experiencing homelessness this coming winter.

Companies that took part in 2015 rose on average €6,500 each. With the funds raised from Shine a Light Night 2015, Focus Ireland was able to reach families living in emergency accommodation before Christmas, and move families into a home of their own quickly and permanently.

To take part in this year’s campaign, companies are asked to raise or donate €5000 and sleep-out for one night to show compassion to those in need and raise vital funds coming up to Christmas.

In 2015 Focus Ireland served 42,063 mealsthat means thousands of people could receive comfort and sustenance from hot, nutritious food. But it’s not just about the food, the Focus Ireland Coffee Shop is often the first port of call for people who are worried about becoming homeless and need advice and information. Over 8,000 people were supported through Focus Ireland’s Day Services. Their night shelter was used by 1,182 people.

In 2015, Focus Ireland helped over 6,500 people to work positively with their landlords. They assisted people to access rent payments and benefits, and to manage budgets, ensuring they keep their homes.

Once your company is registered for the campaign, Focus Ireland will be with you every step of the way. The organization will help your company set up fundraising pages online, provide you with an event pack for the night and digital banners and other promotional content.

More than 2000 children and their families are now homeless in Ireland. Focus Ireland is working to end homelessness and you can help.

Focus Ireland are urging the Business Community to come together and raise funds, send a message of solidarity, and Shine a Light on homelessness. Be part of Shine a Light Night on October 21 and join the Business Leaders sleep-out in Dublin or Cork – or get your team together and host a sleep-out at your workplace – in the lobby, in the car-park or even on the roof!
