Art From The Heart Exhibition and Coffee Morning for Green Ribbon Month

In May the National Stigma Reduction Partnership has been rolling out a month-long national green ribbon campaign to get people talking openly about mental health. ABC for Mental Health is an organisation set up to promote a healthy and open attitude towards mental health. On Tuesday, May 30 Green Ribbon Month came to a climax with the Art From The Heart exhibition and coffee morning.

The Art From The Heart exhibition was in association with A.B.C Mental health and Brothers of Charity. The exhibition was centred around mental health awareness and showcased art from the service users of Fairgreen taught by Hugh McMahon and the Art From The Heart classes taught by Amanda Clifford. The exhibition and coffee morning was held at Our Lady of Lourdes centre and showcased a wide array of colourful and positive artwork. Everyone involved was more than happy to share and discuss their art with attendees and other participants.

Mayor Kieran O’Hanlon also made and appearance at the exhibition and expressed his pride in being part of such an uplifting and positive event. Limerick suicide watch also took part in the event and was joined by their service dog Fern!

The Congregation of the Brothers of Charity is a religious voluntary organisation founded in 1807 to care for and enhance the lives of people with disabilities. A.B.C. For Mental Health is an organisation set up to promote a healthy and open attitude towards Mental Health. A.B.C. For Mental Health aims to promote mental health awareness and reduce the stigma that is attached to mental health.

The Art From The Heart Exhibition and Coffee Morning was a huge success in showcases a wide variety of wonderful art as well as allowing people to openly discuss mental health without any stigma. The event aided participants in connecting with one another to share and listen to each other’s stories which are exactly what Green Ribbon Month was all about.
