Not only were the students excellent in their own dance genres but more importantly they were supportive of each other and fellow competitors, a value that The Limerick Dance Academy tries to nurture in their students.

The school was established by Edel Gallagher in 1983 in Limerick City Centre. The school now operates from their brand new studio in Castletroy Shopping Centre, Limerick, providing classes in ballet, jazz, tap and street jazz, after school midweek and all day Saturday. Students are provided with the opportunity to take examinations with internationally recognised examining institutions, such as the IDTA (International Dance Teacher’s Association), ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance). They also give students the opportunity to perform on stage at the University Concert Hall each year in their annual production. During the past two years, the students were involved in Féile na Máigh, Limerick’s Got Talent and performed in Madam Butterfly at UCH as part of a performance by the Ukrainian National Opera of Kharkiv.

Classes are taught by professional teachers with a wealth of experience in a formative and caring environment. The Academy welcomes all enquiries and caters for all ages and abilities. Edel tells me, “It’s all about the love of dance, being creative, having fun and working hard, and if you follow those guidelines, success will follow. It’s an honour to teach the young people of Limerick and I love every minute of it! All are welcome.”
