With New Year being just behind us there are many people with resolutions to get more fit and what better way to do that than enjoying some community-based Limerick Running Events 2017 throughout the year centered on exercise.

The first event is Milford Hospice 10km fun run/walk on January 29 at The University of Limerick. All proceeds from this event go towards assisting with the new development project involving the new 34-bed Specialist Palliative Care Unit serving the Mid-West. With Official AAI measured route, a non-chip timed event this 10km is open to runners and walkers of all levels and ability. The walk will feature beautiful views of River Shannon, University of Limerick and Plassey area en route. Registration for the event is €20 per person with a booking fee of €1.40 per entrant. Entry fee includes a custom running top as part of your registration fee. There will be Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in both male and female categories. The event starts at 12 noon so all entrants are requested to be assembled by 11:15 AM.

The second event is Castleconnell 10km Race and 5km Fun-Run/Walk at 1.30pm. The 2017 Castleconnell 10K Road Race and 5K Fun run/Walk will both take place in the picturesque surrounds of Castleconnell and Clonlara on Sunday 12th March. There will be prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd man and woman home (Eur75, 50, 25).  Registration fees for the event are as follows: 10KM – €20 | 5KM – €15.

The third event is the sixth Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run on Sunday, April 30. The streets of Limerick City will welcome over 14,000 runners and 40,000 spectators along the course. This event has something for everyone including a marathon, a marathon relay, a half marathon and a 6-mile event. The registration prices are as follows: Marathon €65 | Half Marathon €50 | 6 Miles €22 | Marathon Relay €110.

The final event is Cook Medical Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday, October 29 at 12 pm. This event is synonymous with charities from all over the Midwest for fundraising. Many of the women will run, walk or jog to raise much-needed funds for their respective charities. Participants can choose from either a 10KM or a 5km route. Both routes start & finish on the grounds of the University of Limerick. This event has become a household event as women run or walk while some push their babies in their buggies. Other family members attend on the day to support their wives, sisters, girlfriends or friends. The registration fee is €17.50 per person.
