New UL Games event launched for University of Limerick Alumni & Friends

UL Games initiative to bring their alumni and friends back to campus every year.
UL Games for Alumni & Friends has been created to provide a platform for graduates and friends of the University of Limerick to reconnect with the campus community, Alumni and Clubs & Societies in a fun and relaxing environment.
The inaugural Games will take place on UL campus during the weekend of the 26th to 28th May 2017 and participants will have the opportunity to stay in campus accommodation, avail of UL’s world class sporting facilities whilst enjoying networking and social evenings with guest speakers.
Majella O’Connell, Executive Director, UL Alumni says “UL Alumni is delighted to be a part of this collaborative opportunity in conjunction with UL Conference & Sports Campus and UL Clubs & Societies. Outside of Class Reunions, this event will create a new opportunity for graduates to return to UL. This activity also aligns very much with our new Strategic Plan where we are focused on increased alumni networking. We are delighted to receive support from Bank of Ireland for the campus run and look forward to a successful event in May.”
The event will encompass a variety of activities throughout the University of Limerick’s parkland campus.  The weekend festivities will take place in both traditional and newer locations, from the newly refurbished Stables Club to Europe’s largest bank of synthetic pitches on UL’s modern north campus.
The weekend will kick off on Friday 26th May with inspirational guest speakers & networking opportunities. Saturday 27th May brings the 5 & 10-mile campus run, tag rugby, 7-aside soccer and golf at Castletroy Golf Club with each event designed to bring out the camaraderie in participants. That evening will see the Stables Club host awards and a BBQ night during which participants are sure to meet some familiar faces!

This event offers Alumni the chance to reconnect with UL and experience our world class sports facilities, to stay in village style accommodation and to see first-hand how UL campus has grown exponentially over the past two decades.  Our aim is to establish a legacy event which will continue to grow into the future.”
