She addressed the pupils and staff on the day, following with the theme of the Villiers School Breakfast Conference was Be Bold For Change and she encouraged them to be bold when choosing a career. Colette, who brings to the role 29 years of experience in the health services and is an adjunct professor of nursing and midwifery at NUI Galway, was certainly bold in her career choices. Speaking at the event, Collette said “I was delighted to be invited to speak at Villiers School today to celebrate International Women’s Day with the staff and lovely pupils of the school. The theme for International Women’s Day this year is ‘Be bold for change’, I would certainly encourage all young girls to be bold, have the courage of their convictions and to look inward and see what it is they really want to do when choosing a career. It is so important to enjoy what you do in life and to try and make a difference. Also, strength has no gender, I believe men and women need to work together to drive things forward which is what we strive to do every day at UL Hospitals Group.”

Between Villiers School hosting a number of powerful women at their breakfast conference, Chez Le Fab’s ‘She Means Business’, and the Dell EMC International Women’s Day collaboration with the University of Limerick, the 2017 International Women’s Day has been a thoroughly successful event for Limerick.
