EL DIVAS to perform at the Millennium Theatre this Nov 19

Four friends known as EL DIVAS come together on Saturday, November 19 at Limericks Millennium Theatre (LIT) at 8pm.

Two Limerick ladies, Jessica Bray and Amanda Minihan, both locally and London trained are joined by two Ennis ladies, also London trained, Helen Catherine Ball and Classically trained Janet Woods, who describes herself as Ennis born but Limerick adopted.

These four EL DIVAS have after years of trying, finally aligned their schedules to bring you on a ‘Musical Journey’ through song of their hopes, woes, dreams, trials and tribulations and how their friendships have carried them through.

Jessica, a drama teacher, singer, actress and director, has just finished playing ‘Aldonza’ in Man of La Mancha for Muse Productions and currently directing Shannon Musical Society’s 9-5. Jess is a force to be reckoned with, bringing her amazingly versatile vocals and dramatic skills and energy to the Divas.Amanda has worked in West End and regional shows since completing her training in London. Amanda brings not only her rich warm vocal tones but her amazing comic skills to the stage captivating audiences wherever she goes and also giving yet another dimension to the Divas. She was delighted to work at home with Wildebeest Theatre Company’s Production of ‘ On The Wire’ in 2014. She is happy and grateful for all work she gets at home and abroad and so proud to be sharing the Limerick stage again with some of her dearest friends.

Helen Catherine Ball, while new to Limerick audiences, performed in the West End, UK & Ireland as a leading lady who encapsulates musical theatre, with her evocative tones, dramatic style and dance skills.

Helen, since her return to Ireland, continues to perform and produce, in addition to running her THEATRO.ie Stage School.Janet, who is a much-loved History and Business teacher at Villers Secondary School, a singing teacher and PRO with Felie Luimni, is delighted to tread the Musical Theatre boards again after many years on the Classical circuit. Janet enriches us with her style that will bring back many memories.

Janet and Helen are connected not just through their place of birth, but through Helen’s parents and Janet’s grandparents, who knew each other through the Hearing- Impaired community.

This, in itself, is ironic but when Helens’ vocals and the coloratura, lyrical tones of Janet’s voice meet you will be brought on another journey.EL DIVAS are delighted to be working with Ennis-based Michael Hennessy for this production. Michael is synonymous with music is the Clare region, both as a teacher, performer and musical director. As the sole male amongst these four Divas, he has been nothing but professional and calm, for which the ladies are immensely grateful.

Limerick lady Amanda Minihan has had an amazing career including doing Blood Brothers at The Phoenix Theatre in London West End, The Producers at Drury Lane in London West End and the No1 UK tour. Merrily we Roll Along , The Comedy Theatre, West End, Sister Act at The Palladium, West End and Everyman at The Royal National Theatre, London.
