Focus Ireland National Conference on Ending Youth Homelessness in Ireland

Focus Ireland National Conference on Ending Youth Homelessness in Ireland 

Focus Ireland will be holding a Focus Ireland National Conference on Ending Youth Homelessness in Ireland this September at Thomond Park Conference Venue, Cratloe Road Limerick.

This conference will also mark the launch of the Irish Coalition to End Youth Homelessness.

The conference will address questions such as: What does youth homelessness look like in contemporary Ireland? How can we better respond to the housing and support needs of vulnerable young people and care leavers? What works and what are the key challenges?

This conference will be of significant interest to policy-makers, stakeholders, and practitioners working in the area of youth homelessness – across all agencies, bodies, and organisations. The discussions will also be of interest to researchers and students working on youth homelessness, the experience of care-leavers and housing-led solutions.

Key topics that will be covered at this conference are youth homelessness in Ireland – the trends and patterns, housing and social welfare for young people, lessons on international ‘Housing First 4 Youth’ models, evaluation of Limerick Youth Housing service, fostering paths to employment, mental health supports and policy responses to youth homelessness.

The event will kick off at 10 am with a registration and tea and coffee followed by a number of speeches by professionals working in the area. Speakers include Sr Stan Kennedy, Founder of Focus Ireland, Dr Paula Mayock, Trinity College Dublin, Eilis Lawlor, Just Economics, Stuart Mulholland, Welltree Scotland, Dr Tom Boland and Dr Ray Griffin,Waterford Institute of Technology, Samara Jones, FEANTSA, Joe Finnerty, University College Cork, Young people affected by homelessness, the National Youth Council of Ireland and Tusla.

There will also be questions and answers sessions to break up the speeches and presentations throughout the day.  A light lunch will also be provided. 

The Focus Ireland National Conference will take place on Friday, 15 September from 10 am to 4 pm. Entry to the event costs €20 and can be purchased via Eventbrite. Students and Unemployed go free.
