Your new look will be helped by a wide range of wigs, shoes, hosiery, clothes, and makeup. A basic package includes a choice of all these goodies. Don’t worry, if you are new to all of this Ruth and Neil will help you choose what is best for you.

Ruth Crean one of the founders said “There are only three other dressing services in the country and they are all in Dublin so we really felt like there was a need for it and we are really excited about the response that we have gotten so far. We make a joke that we hope we will eventually go out of business and that we are not needed! It’s so encouraging when I meet younger people who are totally comfortable with their fluidity and open. It gives me a real sense of hope that Ireland in 10 years is not going to need us. There is still lots of judgment out there but I think people are a lot more accepting now and 98% of the reactions we get are positive”.

Transpiring is the brainchild of Neil Farrell and Ruth Crean, a couple based in Co.Clare. He is a trans writer, musician, and videographer. She is an artist, founder of Nice Day Designs craft business and writer.

Ruth said about the service “We are here to help people who are still closeted or who are open about it but maybe just need some help putting on makeup or figuring out what clothes suit them the best. We help people look aesthetically more beautiful but we also provide a welcoming space and to say “hey look this is something you absolutely do not need to be ashamed about and can feel positive and beautiful””.

“An awful lot of people will be nervous at the start and we would have a conversation over phone or email to talk about the process and what is going to happen. People can take their time with us and it’s a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for them to be in, especially if the experience is brand new to them. We try and figure out what suits each person, there is no definite aesthetic for them and we work at their pace. The experiences we have already had with clients has been wonderful and you can see the sense of pride within them when they come to us and get over their nerves about the experience”.
