Down Syndrome Limerick (DSL) is running a Christmas raffle for the first 12 days of December called the 12 Days of DSL to raise some much-needed funds for their Charity.

They will be drawing a prize daily and it started on December 1 and will continue until December 12. You could win a voucher, a hamper, or another gift that would represent the business that donated it. All new entrants will be added to the draw for the following day and all those already in, will then roll over into the next day’s draw.

All tickets purchased are saved into the iDonate Raffle app and then they use a Google Random Number generator to select each winner. The price of the tickets is on their iDonate page which will be linked at the bottom of the story.

They began with a goal of raising €2,500 and they have already passed that goal and are almost at €5,000. Charities like DSL need your help after the horrible year we have all experienced December is the month of giving and now more than ever charities are relying on people like us to help them out so that they can continue their vital work helping everyone they can.

Down Syndrome Limerick is a local charity that is based in Castletroy, Limerick. They endeavor to support families and individuals with Down Syndrome throughout their life, through a range of Social, Education, and Development activities. Recognition of the importance of early intervention and of developing communication ability, with due regard to the individuality of the person, guides everything they do.

Down Syndrome Limerick is run by volunteers, all of whom are parents of a child or adult with Down syndrome. The charity means the world to these parents as it allows their children to access essential therapies and services such as speech and language therapy as well as get involved in social activities.

Charlotte Hanley, on behalf of the committee of Down Syndrome Limerick, said, “Like so many other charities, DSL has been adversely affected by Covid-19, with most of our fundraising events cancelled. At this time of year, we would normally be carol singing in the shopping centres of Limerick. Christmas is a lovely time for our charity as it gets us out meeting our local community and supporters as well as spreading some festive cheer. To keep the spirit of Christmas alive in DSL, as well as raise funds, we are organising this raffle.”

“We are conscious that 2020 has been difficult for a lot of businesses as well and that companies may not be in a position to provide a prize for this year. However, companies can support us by sharing the details of our raffle. We don’t receive Government funding, so we rely on the generosity of individuals, clubs, and businesses to support us. We are so appreciative of any support that you can provide,” Charlotte added.
