A Look Back on Limerick #1 – Special Olympics 2010

Every week we will be taking a look back on memorable moments from years gone by In Limerick.

To start it off, this week we will be going back to 2010, when Limerick proudly hosted the Special Olympics. The event brought 1,900 athletes to Limericks various world class sports venues for four days of competition.

The two featured videos include the opening ceremonies, as well as Interviews with CEO of Special Olympics Ireland Matt English and rugby players Keith Woods & Paul O’ Connell discussing the impact of having the Special Olympics in Limerick.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
