Enable Ireland work with Make A Move on groundbreaking event

The annual Make a Move Festival 2013 kicked off with a once-off special event in conjunction with Enable Ireland and with the assistance of Dr Elizabeth O’Mahony, Paediatric Neurology Consultant at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.  This unique free event was hosted as a key part of the annual Make a Move Festival and took place at the University Of Limerick Sports Arena on July 22.

The format of the event included a Hip Hop Dance Exhibition and Work Shop and the day was exclusively for children and young adults with mixed abilities together with their family and friends.   The Make a Move Festival has a particular emphasis on social inclusion, healthy living and an alternative lifestyle approach for young people and especially those from marginalised communities. The festival also aims to celebrate and develop the art forms within Hip Hop for young Limerick artists and audiences. The festival will be showcasing break-dancing/hip hop dancing, DJ/MC Performances and street art. The workshops will feature both local and international top talents in the Hip Hop world with Barry Bourke (Bazzy B) together with professional dancer Tommy Gunns from the US.  Tommy is a unique dancer in that he lost his leg to Bone Cancer a few years ago. The Make a Move Festival will run from July 22-28 with various events around the city of Limerick.  See www.makeamove.ie.
