It has always been his passion to paint and since he moved to Ireland, he opened and began running his own art studio and gallery space. A good number of his paintings have sold nationally and worldwide, from exhibitions both in his studio and across the country. His work has also been featured by national and international media and many of his paintings have been used as book covers by eminent authors.

He also strongly believes in giving back to the art community that has given him so much happiness and therefore he wholeheartedly engages in voluntary teaching with the specially-abled and promotes many young artists around the country. He regularly takes morning and evening classes, all year round for all skill levels, even taking in work students from neighbouring colleges and universities.

In this small way, he has brought in a good amount of business to Limerick city and the surrounding area. He has co-authored books with Dr. Michael Hayes, published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, about the intercultural dialogue in Ireland that is the story of his journey across borders and across his palette. His work features scenic Irish life and African landscapes, both of which have been a big part of his journey.

Being so connected to the themes of his paintings, he focuses on drawing out the intensity of feeling and texture through his technical skills with the brush and pallet knife. His style ranges from real to abstract, sizing from 4 inch x 2 inch up to 15ft x 30ft and he paints in oil, acrylic and Indian ink on canvas. He has also recently adopted a new style of black and white painting. He always seeks to keep evolving and developing his own style, as he sees inspiration for learning all around him. Every artwork is the result of a long painting process; every canvas is born during an introspective creative search; every painting is full of inner musings and each painting conveys a different mood, emotion and colour.

His paintings are an expression of the beauty, harmony and spirit of the world. Each element in his every painting is carefully deliberated and reflects feeling, sensitivity, passion, and music for the soul. As he has grown and evolved as an artist, his work has become more and more an extension of his being. Jean best expresses himself through the simple synchronization of colours and shapes.

The colours in the world inspire him more than the plain object. He believes it is the colours that convey and arouse feeling and emotion. It is a depth of feeling he wants his observer to understand.
