The Kids Run will  be held in memory of Aaron O’Flaherty

Aaron always loved taking part in the Kids Run and last participated in the Kids Run in 2013. Aaron’s mother, Cecilia O’Flaherty, says she is honoured that the Kids Run will this year take place in Aaron’s memory. “I’m really touched that this year’s event will be held in his memory. As a Civil Defence Officer in Limerick, I have worked at every single Great Limerick Run weekend. The Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run and Aaron’s anniversary will always be linked for me now, as I was not long home from last year’s event when I got the call about his accident. So I’m extremely grateful to the organisers for doing this for Aaron and I hope the event will be well supported by children and their parents,” Cecilia said. “I’m extremely grateful to the organisers for doing this for Aaron’’ she added.

UL Sport Kids Run 2015 in Memory of Aaron O Flaherty took place on Saturday May 2 and was held in association with Limerick Sports Partnership. Race organiser John Cleary said ‘We’re delighted to honour Aaron in this way.  Aaron symbolised what this event is all about – having fun, being active and enjoying participating in a fun collective event.’ The ‘Remembering Aaron’ logo will be on all the children’s t-shirts that they will wear on race day to help promote Aaron O’Flaherty Memorial Fund which is to raise much needed funds to buy new equipment for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
