Parteen Fashion Show 2016 took place in the Strand Hotel last Thursday night as part of Parteen National School’s fund raising activities for an astro turf at the school. The show was a resounding success with well in excess of 300 ladies and a few brave gentlemen in attendance.  Hilary Thompson Modelling Agency provided the models on the night and showcased fabulous summer fashions from many boutiques from Limerick City & County as well as nearby Killaloe.  The show also saw some special guest models including the Principal Mr Gerard Ruane, Vice Principal Mairead Guckian, Cathal Crowe, Damien Collins, Patrick Hickey, Sile O’Donovan, Fidelma Coughlan, Catherine Fielding, Aoife Ryan, Deirdre Curtin, Karen O’Dwyer, and Leah O’Keeffe.

The door spot prize on the night was sponsored by Mathew Stephens Jewellers and a beautiful bracelet was won by Ruth Dougan.  Ruth was the first of many winners on the night as there was many great prizes up for grabs owing to the generosity of the numerous local shops and businesses who gave so kindly to the event.  The raffle was carried out with the help of a very proud Limerick man, Parteen & Meelick’s Parish Priest Fr Tom Carroll and what a finale he gave to the whole night.

Parteen School has 375 children attending it and is currently completing its second extension in recent years. The proposed astro turf will be a welcome addition to the school doubling the play area for the children and allowing them to play after school sporting activities there instead of having to travel to other sporting facilities. The school is holding its next fund raising event on 29th May. The event comprises of a challenging 10k run, a family 5k fun walk with food and entertainment afterwards. The race starts from McMahon’s Bar at Ardnacrusha, interested parties should contact the school.
