Figures showed this year that there are nearly 300 homeless people in Limerick City

The 2022 Mid West Simon Community Charity Ball is due to take place on Saturday, September 24 at 6:30pm in Limerick Strand Hotel. All money raised from the charity ball will be donated to the Food Bank and the new Social Grocery store.

The team at the Mid West Simon Community have been working since 2006 to support people tackling homelessness and to provide them with accommodation. They work with people across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary to cater to their individual needs.

The Mid West Simon Charity Ball is an annual fundraiser allowing people to get together to support the homeless in Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary. Mid West Simon Community have launched an initiative to open Limerick’s first Social Grocery, which would allow people to shop for food at a discounted price. Adding to this, users of the store can avail of a range of skills and training courses, money management workshops, advice and information services, and cooking and food skills classes, individuals will be provided with prospects to move towards self-sustainability and financial stability. This will be the first Social Grocery store in Ireland which is set to open in 2023, aiming to improve the quality of life for those who need it.

The charity ball promises a prosecco reception to start at 6:30pm before heading into the main function room for a four-course meal with wine. Entertainment will take place on the night, beginning with the Capriccio String Quartet on arrival and Limerick singer Jane Fraser will be performing after the meal. Guests can enter a raffle with great prizes and guests can also book a hotel room at a discounted rate.

Sponsors of the 2022 Mid West Simon Charity ball include Adare Transport, Leonidas Chocolate shop and Tribeca Holdings. The dress code for the event is evening wear, and tickets are priced at €120 per person, or you can book a table of ten for €1200 however, groups of all sizes are welcomed.
