The search is on for the 2023 Limerick Rose to enter this year’s Rose of Tralee festival. The 2023 Limerick Rose will be selected at a gala event in the Woodlands Hotel, Adare on Sunday, April 23.

On Saturday, April 15, the Limerick Rose of Tralee Centre brought all Limerick Rose applicants to a number of local businesses and charities throughout Limerick. The entrants met with local people and businesses to talk about the upcoming festival and show off their style.

Ladies from across Limerick City and County toured around the Treaty City and county for the annual Limerick Rose of Tralee Tour, ahead of selection night. Kicking off from the George Boutique Hotel, the group then visited King John’s Castle, People’s Park, the cafe Oahu on Thomas Street, the autism charity Dochas, the International Rugby Experience and a floral business, Pressed Flowers by Nell in the city. They also visited the Woodlands Hotel and Adare Park in the county.

Jacinta Kahn of the George Hotel said, “The Rose’s visit is one of the highlights of our entire year. Especially meeting all the potential Limerick Rose’s. It creates such a feeling of immense pride in our city and county and we could not be happier to welcome them and show them hometown hospitality. They all deserve to feel spoiled!”

In 2019, Limerick Rose Sinead Flanagan won the festival in what was the last competition before the world went into lockdown, and became the 60th International Rose of Tralee.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival 2023 will take place from August 19 to 23. It is one of Ireland’s largest and longest running festivals. The heart of the festival is the selection of the Rose of Tralee which brings young women of Irish descent from around the world to County Kerry for a global celebration of Irish culture. The festival also includes street entertainment, carnivals, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks and the internationally renowned Rose Parade.

Local businesses and sponsors may also nominate someone to be a Community Rose via the website.

Those wishing to apply to become a Community Rose or Escort may do so on roseoftraleecommunities.com.
