Students and teachers of Scoil Mhuire agus Íde (SMI), Newcastle West will take to the catwalk for the 2023 SMI Fashion Show on what is promised to be a truly glamorous evening on Wednesday, March 15th.

The event will be held in the school on Wednesday, March 15th and this year in particular, SMI is making great efforts to show the individuality of its students after a number of years out of the spotlight.

Their creations will be modelled on the night, with some students making the artistic backdrop displayed on the big night. It is guaranteed not only to be a night of high fashion, but also a night of musical excellence with performances from talented Transition Years being featured during the night’s lineup.

As always, the school has a great organisational team behind them consisting of hard-working and dedicated teachers and staff.

“With our biggest number of Transition Year students to date, there will be no shortage of models for our local shops and boutiques to exhibit their spring collections. Our local businesses have always been extremely supportive of us, helping us out with the preparations for the show in any way they can,” said teacher Neasa Harris.

Clothes modelled on the night from – from Ela Maria, Gatsby, G Boutique, Adrenaline, Scanlans Menswear, Kimono, Noels, Bella Sola, Ladies and Childrens Fashion, Siobhan Boyce Millinery.

This Year’s fashion show will be presented By the wonderful Richard Lynch of I Love Limerick who describes the event as “one of the highlights of my year”.

“Over the years I have seen many of the students grow up and love to return every year. What a wonderful school and what an amazing community in Newcastle West who greet me every year with open arms,” he said.

All funds that are raised on the night go towards future Transition Year projects. There will be hampers and spot prizes galore also, with SMI extending their gratitude and thanks to the very generous businesses who have given sponsorship.

The red carpet event gets underway from 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 15th Tickets are €10 and are available from the school on 069-62443 and the Transition Year students.
