2024 Design at UL exhibition showcasing the work of architecture students from the University of Limerick School of Architecture and Product Design has opened in the University of Limerick City Campus, on Sarsfield Street, Limerick, as part of the Building Change initiative. The public exhibition is open until Thursday, June 6th.
The 2024 Design at UL exhibition features work from over 80 final-year and postgraduate students of Architecture, Product Design and Technology, and Design for Health and Wellbeing. The Limerick School of Architecture and Product Design is a partner of the Building Change initiative, a collaborative programme to radically transform the architecture curriculum in Ireland’s six architecture schools. The new approach seeks to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to tackle the challenges of the housing and climate crises.
Professor Merritt Bucholz, Head of the School of Architecture and Product Design, said, “The work of a School of Architecture and Product Design is the work of the students, as newcomers to the world of design, students’ work anticipates the future.
“This year the students’ work has been firmly focused on Limerick as a springboard for ideas that weave together the city region with models, prototypes, drawings, and products – a real future emerges at the 2024 Design at UL exhibition. We look forward to engaging in new conversations about that future with visitors to the exhibition.”
Under the Human Capital Initiative administered by Higher Education Authority, the six schools of architecture in Ireland (situated, respectively, in Technological University Dublin, University College Dublin, the University of Limerick, South East Technological University, Atlantic Technological University and the Cork Centre for Architecture Education, a joint initiative of University College Cork and Munster Technological University), have formed a national strategic partnership to deliver the Building Change project.
The free exhibition will be open every day until Thursday, June 6th (excluding Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd June) from 9:00am to 5:00pm,. There will be opportunities to discuss and share ideas behind the work with students and staff of University of Limerick.
