Each screening will feature films with either English dialogue or subtitles, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

The Short Shorts from Europe 2024, organised by the EUNIC Ireland network, returns to Limerick as well as Dublin, Cork, and Galway to captivate audiences with a selection of European short films throughout October and November.

Attendees will enjoy a wide range of genres, including action, comedy, documentary, animation, and drama, representing 11 European countries, alongside contributions from Ireland.

Screenings are already underway with Galway’s Pálás Cinema hosting films on Thursday, October 10. The Short Shorts from Europe screenings will come to Limerick’s with screenings at the TUS Millennium Theatre in association with Limerick School of Art & Design on Thursday, October 17 before moving to Dublin’s Light House Cinema on November 6th, and Cork’s Arc Cinema on November 11th.

Notable films include Washed Up Love from Ireland, Glow from Luxembourg, and Maestro from Hungary, with the festival set to showcase emerging and established talents it is not to be missed by film enthusiasts.

Each screening will feature films with either English dialogue or subtitles, ensuring accessibility for all attendees. After the screenings, audiences will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film via their phone bringing an interactive element to the festival.

EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – is a network of European national institutes for culture and national bodies engaged in cultural and related activities beyond their national borders. EUNIC Ireland members are: Alliance Française/Embassy of France, Austrian Embassy, British Council, Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, Culture Ireland, Goethe-Institut, Embassy of Greece, Instituto Cervantes/Spanish Agency for the International Cooperation and Development (AECID), Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Embassy of Hungary, Embassy of Luxembourg, Embassy of Malta, Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Embassy of Portugal, Embassy of Romania, Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia and Embassy of Switzerland.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
