NOVAS Christmas SleepOut calls for public support this weekend
The 2024 Christmas SleepOut is NOVAS largest fundraising event of the year
In just a few day’s time, on Saturday 7th of December, the 2024 NOVAS Christmas SleepOut will take place in Limerick City
From 7pm until 7am, supporters of the leading charity will be sleeping outside Brown Thomas, to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness and vital funds for the organisation. All the money raised will go towards frontline services in the region.
The SleepOut is NOVAS largest fundraising event of the year and with more people than ever experiencing homelessness and seeking support, the organisation is calling on people to get involved and give generously. Participants of the SleepOut have sought sponsorship from family, friends and work colleagues, however everyone can get involved and make a difference, by making a donation.
Jackie Leonard, NOVAS Head of Fundraising explains that there are many ways to donate, “If you are passing on the night please do come along and show your support, we will have volunteers doing a street collection. You can also donate via idonate, our social media channels and our website. The more money we raise the more vulnerable households in our local communities we can support.”
Throughout the Mid-West region, NOVAS supports thousands of people annually through a range of frontline services and interventions. In Limerick, NOVAS provides emergency homeless accommodation, social housing, health and recovery services, family support services and street outreach. All these services have experienced a significant rise in demand over the past 24 months, with more people than ever seeking support, accommodation and housing. Each night, NOVAS Street Outreach provides warm meals, hot drinks, advice, support and signposting to up to 50 individuals. This service is run by a dedicated volunteer team and relies entirely on fundraising endeavours to operate. The NOVAS Christmas SleepOut is one of these events.
