The only dedicated festival of its kind in Ireland, the 2024 Polish Arts Festival returns to Limerick on September 26th – 29th with an exciting programme of events taking place across several venues including the Belltable, Limerick City Gallery of Art, The Hunt Museum and the Record Room.

The Polish Arts Festival celebrates Polish culture and art, nurtures new international artistic collaborations and conversations, and supports Polish artists living and creating in Ireland. This year they are thrilled to present the world-famous Laboratorium Piesni – Song Laboratory, who will perform on the Belltable stage on Saturday, September 28 at 7pm.  This year’s festival highlight, Song Laboratory,  is a female group of singers from Poland, created in 2013. Using traditional, polyphonic singing they perform songs from all over the world, mainly: Ukraine, Balkans, Belarus, Georgia, Scandinavia, Poland and many other places. They sing a capella as well as with shaman drums and other ethnic instruments, creating a new space in a traditional song, adding voice improvisations inspired by sounds of nature.

Other key events include the exhibition “Patching Femininity” by artist Olga Anacka in LCGA from Sept 26th to Oct 25th, a video dance-music installation ‘Woman of the Seine’ by Dorota Korczycka-Bablinska in the Belltable foyer, cinema screenings and talks, concerts, and an exciting programme for families as part of carefully curated PAF Kids Day, including an interactive music performance ‘Pstryk!’  – suitable for English and Polish speakers.

Justyna Cwojdzinska, Festival Founder & Artistic Director said, “Every year, the Polish Arts Festival commissions a brand new original and collaborative music piece which is devised, composed, recorded and then performed live at PAF opening day. Music commission is one of our flagship projects and they are thrilled to serve as a springboard for collaborative creative work by a Polish and an Irish music artist.  This year, we have been working closely with Limerick singer-songwriter JaYne and Irish/Polish artist Dora Gola, who were inspired by Slavic and Celtic mythology in making ‘ ‘Glór na Bogini’ – a brand new song premiering on September 26th on streaming platforms and live during our festival opening event in LCGA.”  Join Dora and JaYne in the Record Room at 9pm  on Sept 26th for a live music evening performed solo and together – it’s going to be an unforgettable night!

Join for an unforgettable four-day festival  featuring live music, captivating family performances, engaging exhibitions and a dedicated PAF Kids Day with a variety of exciting activities – full programme of events and tickets are available on www.polishartsfestival.ie Zapraszamy!!
