Sean Kelly returns to Limerick this year for the 2024 Sean Kelly Three Counties Cycle on September 15th in support of Down Syndrome Limerick
One of the world’s greatest cyclists, Sean Kelly, returns to Limerick again this year for the 2024 Sean Kelly Three Counties Cycle on September 15th
The “King of the Classics”, King Kelly has over 193 cycling career wins including 9 Monuments and 7 consecutive Paris/Nice wins as well as 4 green jerseys in the Tour de France! The cycling legend will, for the 4th year, lead out the cyclists, who depart TUS, Limerick to complete either 50km or 100km, all in aid of Down Syndrome Limerick.
The event has grown in popularity of the years with over 500 cyclists participating each year. The event is fully marshalled, fully insured and has a range of refreshments available before, during and after the event to keep the cyclists fuelled!
The beneficiary for the event is Down Syndrome Limerick, a charity which supports children and adults with Down syndrome throughout their lives through a range of services and social activities like Speech and Language Therapy, adult education courses, employment support programmes and many fun social activities too including cycling lessons.
Michelle Coughlan, Chairperson of Down Syndrome Limerick said, “The Sean Kelly Three Counties Cycle is an amazing event in the cycling calendar but it is also an important fundraiser for us. Last year over €110,000 was raised through this event which has a hugely positive impact on the children and adults availing of services and supports at the charity. We are so grateful to the wonderful committee of volunteers involved in helping us to organise this event.
“We are hoping that people come out again and get on their bikes for us. Thank you to everyone for their support – the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and participants and not forgetting Sean Kelly himself!”
The event has attracted participants from around Ireland and internationally in previous years. It is fast becoming a cycling event not to be missed! So sign up and get on your bikes for a great cause.
