Following the official launch of the Christmas season with the magical Illuminated Christmas Procession taking place on November 22 and lighting up the city, Limerick is bringing the festive spirit with a host of events throughout December.

A programme of events announced for the city and county brings live music, festive fun, and charitable events with fun for everyone this Christmas season.

With the return of favourites such as Limerick On Ice, a twinkling boardwalk, and the return of Christmas at the Milk Market, Limerick is already set up for a promising Christmas period, with many more events announced.

Throughout December, Limerick will be home to live music from some of the country’s top acts as well as some international stars.

Kicking off the music for the season, Fun Lovin’ Criminals are set to play at Cleary’s Bar, Newcastle West on Tuesday, December 2, Irish rock legends ASH come to Dolan’s on Wednesday, December 10, followed by Damien Dempsey making his Limerick return to the Big Top on Friday, December 12, and Hermitage Green topping off an incredible month of music on Wednesday, December 31 at Dolan’s Warehouse.

New to the live music offering this Christmas, The Castle Suite Sessions at King John’s Castle will feature some of Ireland’s best-loved performers, beginning with Paddy Casey on Saturday, December 6th, followed by Mundy on Friday, December 12th, and Jerry Fish on Saturday, December 13th.

Limerick City and County Council has also announced a series of Night-Time Economy Christmas Grant events, including the Treaty City Brewery Christmas Fair on 20 and 21 December, Cool Yule on the Lane and Christmas on the Lane – Jazzmas Experiment taking place on various dates throughout December, the Santa Bike Disco – Three Bridges Festive Cycle on 11 December, the Bring Back the Wren Charity Walk returns on Stephen’s Day, and a New Year’s Day Sober Rave has been announced for January 1 at Wickham Way.  

From charming street events and family-friendly festivities to captivating characters and musical evenings, Limerick’s festive spirit will shine brightly across every corner of the city and county.

The much-loved Santa’s Magical Cabin is bringing festive fun, magic and merriment for families at Jetland Shopping Centre from 15 Nov 2025 – 23 Dec 2025, thanks to The Santa Experience.

This year they will again be supporting the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation as their chosen charity to spread festive cheer and support children with complex needs.

From charming street events and family-friendly festivities to captivating characters and musical evenings, Limerick’s festive spirit will shine brightly across every corner of the city and county.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
