Each light costs €5 and will shine bright throughout the festive season, with the charity inviting people to record a memory of their loved ones in an online Book of Treasured Memories, and participants will also receive a printed card by post.

As part of this year’s campaign, Milford Care Centre announced a new brooch which will be sold to raise funds for the charity. They said, “They say when a robin appears, a loved one is near. We are excited to launch our stunning robin brooch, capturing the essence of this sentiment with its delicate details and vibrant colours. It’s the perfect way to add a festive touch to your outfit or to gift someone special this season.”

Mary O’Brien, CEO of Milford Care Centre, extends a heartfelt invitation to all, “We’d be delighted to welcome you to Milford Care Centre on December 7th for our Light Up a Memory ceremony. This special tradition is about coming together, remembering those we love, and celebrating their lives in a meaningful way. It’s a moment of reflection and connection that means so much to our community and to us. We hope you can join us.”

The lighting ceremony will be officially marked on Sunday, December 7, at the earlier start time of 4 pm, when the Memory Tree will be lit up on the grounds of Milford Care Centre. This year’s Light Up a Memory Tree incorporates the service of remembrance and thanksgiving, which took place in June.

The orgainsers said, “Our Christmas campaign is a truly beautiful means to remember and pay tribute to your loved ones.  Lights can also be sponsored as a thoughtful gift for someone, letting them know that you are thinking of them during this time of year.

“Light Up A Memory is scheduled for Sunday December 7th 2025 at 4.00pm and is returning to the grounds of Milford Care Centre. For those attending, we kindly ask that you arrive to Milford Care Centre and follow the directions of our Stewards.”

The highlight of this special evening will be the illumination of our magnificent Light Up A Memory Christmas Tree.  Every year, our wonderful Supporters generously sponsor lights in memory of their loved ones, dear friends, or a gift to someone special.  These lights will shine throughout the entire Christmas season, reminding us of the special place our loved ones hold in our hearts.
