Limerick Mental Health Association announces details for the 21st Limerick Mental Health Week from Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12, 2025

This year’s theme will centre on “Community, Connection, and Compassion”

Limerick Mental Health Association (LMHA) is proud to announce the return of Limerick Mental Health Week, marking its 21st anniversary this year. The annual event, which promotes positive mental health and well-being across Limerick City and County, will take place from Monday, 6 to Sunday, 12 of October, with the official launch on Sunday, October 5 at the Family Health and Wellbeing Fair at the Milk Market.

This year’s theme will centre on “Community, Connection, and Compassion” by building on the success of last year’s focus. The 21st anniversary will be a landmark event featuring a programme of free public events, talks, exhibitions, and workshops. The week aims to involve every corner of the community, fostering a supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to prioritise their mental health.

The programme, developed in partnership with over 15 local organisations, educational institutions, and community groups, will offer a diverse range of activities, including online and in-person talks; Workshops and wellness activities; and community events.

This year’s events will begin with a Family Health and Wellbeing Fair, a special launch event on Sunday, 5th October, at the Limerick Milk Market from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, celebrating the start of the week with a pet farm, a pop-up clinic, healthy food demonstrations, growing with kids gardening activity, an introduction to salsa dancing, and nd much more!

This year’s theme — Community, Connection, and Compassion — reflects the heart of what we do. Mental health is not just an individual journey; it’s a shared responsibility.

“By creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported, we’re building a culture of care that reaches every corner of Limerick city and county. I invite everyone to take part, start conversations, and help us make this 21st anniversary our most inclusive and impactful yet.”

Ian Hackett, Manager, Limerick Mental Health Association, said, “We are thrilled to be celebrating the 21st anniversary of Limerick Mental Health Week. This year’s theme, Community, Connection, and Compassion, highlights the importance of communication and openness. When someone is struggling, whether it is a friend or family member, we encourage everyone to help combat stigma and reach out.”

“We will host an 80 km walk from Limerick to Fenit on Saturday, 11th October, to help raise awareness of men’s mental health. We have partnered with a wide range of local businesses, social groups, and community organisations to ensure there is something for everyone, and we invite all of Limerick to join us in making this our most impactful week yet.”

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
