Limerick Summer Proms returns to University Concert Hall for its highly anticipated 2025 edition, promising four unforgettable days of music, culture, and community spirit.

Returning this June, the Proms has rapidly become a highlight of the Mid-West’s cultural calendar, drawing audiences from across the region and beyond.

Now in its second year, the Limerick Summer Proms continues to grow in scale and ambition. This year’s lineup features a blend of internationally acclaimed performers, national treasures, and homegrown talent. From the stunning sounds of Irish Chamber Orchestra to the rousing power of the Military Pipes and Bands of the Defence Forces, to the family-friendly magic of Alasdair Malloy and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra—there is something for everyone.

“Limerick Summer Proms has become more than a music festival. It’s a celebration of who we are—a city proud of its heritage, creativity, and inclusiveness.” said Sinéad Hope, Artistic Director.

“As a Company with a 35-year heritage, and its roots in the Mid-West, it’s a privilege for us to play a part in enabling UCH to achieve its aim of promoting a vibrant arts sector in the region. Thursday, 19th June at 7:30pm, Beethoven Piano Concertos No. 2 & 4 performed by Irish Chamber Orchestra with Kristian Bezuidenhout
The festival launches with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, joined by the internationally celebrated Kristian Bezuidenhout. Together, they will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concertos No. 2 and 4, breathing life and brilliance into two masterpieces that reflect the composer’s unparalleled legacy.

Friday, 20th June at 7:30pm – Military Pipes and Bands of the Defence Forces presented by Niall Carroll (RTÉ lyric fm)

Experience the thrilling sound of the Military Pipes and Bands of the Defence Forces, under the baton of Captain Ben Jacob. The concert features a dynamic programme spanning operatic arias, musical theatre gems, and iconic military marches. Joining them on stage will be Soprano Kelli-Ann Masterson, mezzo-soprano and Limerick’s very own mezzo-soprano Amanda Minihan and baritone Owen Gilhooly-Miles, with RTÉ lyric fm’s Niall Carroll as master of ceremonies.

Saturday, June 21st at 7:30pm – Marty in the Evening with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

Marty Whelan returns with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra for a night of timeless music and good-humoured storytelling in Marty in the Evening – Live! This special edition brings together a blend of Puccini, Morricone, Bacharach and more, in a warm, uplifting evening that promises nostalgia, surprises, and plenty of laughter.

Sunday, 22nd June at 2pm– Family Concert – The Incredible Voyage of Alasdair Malloy with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

Families are in for a treat with The Incredible Voyage of Alasdair Malloy and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. What begins as a simple trip to Limerick turns into a hilariously epic adventure through magical realms and musical worlds—by car, carpet, spaceship, and submarine! With a vibrant soundtrack featuring Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Moana, and other favourites, this concert offers pure delight for children and grown-ups alike.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
