This Sunday’s Munster Hurling Championship showdown between Limerick and Cork at the TUS Gaelic Grounds will be one to watch as both teams, level on points, are aiming to command the top spot of this year’s championship league. Limerick will have revenge in mind this weekend following Cork’s heartbreaking double over the Treaty team in 2024.

Historically, Cork holds the upper hand with 47 victories in 73 championship meetings, Limerick winning just 21 of those; the Shannonsiders have a chance to make a statement this weekend. Both teams come into the game with some momentum following a tough start to this year’s campaign with both teams settling for draws in their opening games before going on to win emphatically in their second round of games.

John Kiely’s side come into this fixture off the back of a commanding 0-28 to 0-22 win over Waterford with clinical displays from Aaron Gillane who scored 9 points in that away fixture, and strong performances from Shane O’Brien, Adam English, and Cian Lynch, Limerick will be hoping for much of the same from them.

While Cork have shown their brilliance in their 15-point demolition of Tipperary the last day out, Limerick will be hoping to pile the pressure on as Clare did in the opening game which saw Cork throw away a 12-point lead to share the points with Clare.

The Munster Championship game takes place this Sunday, May 18, with a 4pm throw-in at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, and will be live on RTÉ 2, with tickets no longer available on Ticketmaster, it looks as though the stadium will be packed out and the team will be hoping for a great atmosphere.
