The Limerick School of Music (LSOM) is delighted to present the second annual Summer Black-Tie Gala in aid of the LSOM Alumni & Friends Fund. The Gala will take place at 8.00 pm on the 9th of May at Garden’s International, Henry St., Limerick.

The performance will consist of a fabulous selection of popular classical pieces, all performed by staff members of the school. The theme for the evening is a Summer Gala, where LSOM Principal Cecilia Madden will begin the concert, conducting the orchestra for the opening movement of Beethoven’s evergreen Pastoral Symphony.

Piano Maestro Stuart O’Sullivan will bring us Bach’s D minor Keyboard Concerto on a full concert-size Steinway grand piano, specially brought in for the evening. There will be Spanish music from guitar teacher John O’Shea and a special performance of Reimagined by Max Richter, a minimalist interpretation of Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons, recently brought to a wider audience in the hit Netflix show Bridgerton. Rounding out the programme, the concert will bring well-known film music from Ennio Morricone and a selection of songs from the Shows by resident LSOM soprano supreme Emma English.

John O’Shea, Asst. Principal and Guitar teacher at Limerick School of Music said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to do another concert this summer. All the staff are volunteering their time and it’s been amazing to see everyone really get behind the cause.

“The School of Music has one of the most amazing school communities in Limerick, and the students and families feel very strongly about the place. A concert like this one requires a lot of time, effort and support, and if it’s anything like last year, that energy will really add to the sense of occasion on the night. It’s a very special event that you have to see to experience!”

The venue has been generously provided by Limerick 2030 in support of the LSOM Alumni & Friends Fund and is one of the most stunning spaces in the city centre, with high ceilings, marble columns and copious natural lighting. All elements of this very special venue add to the atmosphere required for a summer-evening occasion such as this. The suggested dress code for the evening is Black-Tie, however, attendees are encouraged to dress as they feel comfortable.

Tickets are €50 and are available from the Limerick School of Music website

Alongside the concert, included in the price of admission will be a relaxed, sparkling reception. There will be prosecco flowing generously provided by The White House and delicious sweet and savoury canapés from the French Table.

Tickets are €50 and are available from the Limerick School of Music website. While all ages are welcome, under-18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

All proceeds go to the LSOM Alumni & Friends Fund to assist deserving students in accessing music education throughout the region. Funds raised from previous endeavours have been used for helping students with instrument purchase, travel expenses for participation in events and contributing towards the purchase of the numerous resources and other outgoings that arise in a student’s journey through music.

The fund has become an invaluable method through which fledgling Limerick musicians can access and pursue the highest standard of music education at all levels.

Limerick School of Music invite you to join them for what they hope will be a night to remember and a very special event that is not to be missed.
