Limerick’s Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival announces its 2026 edition taking place from Thursday,1 to Saturday, 10, October
Limerick’s Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival announces its 2026 edition, taking place from Thursday, 1st to Saturday, 10th of October in venues across Limerick city and county.
Featuring over thirty performances, the festival presents exciting theatre, dance, music, visual art and much more for young audiences in Limerick. Alongside public shows and events, the festival presents a wide range of workshops and performances aimed at schools.
Event highlights include: How to Catch a Star by Galway’s Branar, who return to the festival with their highly acclaimed show on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd October at Lime Tree Theatre; Swedish company Teater Pero’s touching performance of Aston’s Stones from Thursday 1st to Saturday 3rd October at Belltable; Belfast based Young at Art’s hugely popular Baby Rave at Dance Limerick on Sunday 4th October; Mónica Muñoz’ dance duet FLIP on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October at Belltable; Wandering Stories from local storyteller Sinéad O’Brien at The Gaff on Saturday 10th October, and an improvised performance from Darren Yorke at Limerick Libraries called Novel Ideas on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th October. The festival also presents dance workshops and performances in schools from Dutch company de Stilte, workshops in comic book making, creative writing, poetry and drawing, and screenings of Irish language film Fidil Gorm and the much-loved classic Labyrinth.

Festival curator Liam McCarthy says about this year’s programme, “Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival is a very special two weeks in our cultural calendar when we host brilliant arts events for young people all across Limerick. We are so excited to share our diverse programme with you, packed full of theatre, music, film, dance, creative writing, poetry and visual art, with community engagement remaining central to what we do.
“We’re delighted to work alongside our brilliant Bualadh Bos Children’s panel and to collaborate with wonderful artists locally, nationally and internationally. We can’t wait to welcome you to our festival this October.”
The festival also continues its annual Pay It Forward fundraising campaign, which supports children’s access to festival events and promotes inclusivity through ticket donations.
Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival runs from Thursday 1st to Saturday 10th October 2026 in venues across Limerick city.
Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival is funded by The Arts Council and JP McManus Benevolent Fund and presented in partnership with Limerick City and County Council and Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable. The festival is supported by Dance Limerick, Limerick City Gallery Of Art, The Gaff, The Hunt Museum, Doras, EDNIP and Mary Immaculate College.
