Limerick acts made the most of their 2026 Electric Picnic performances, including a special Cranberries appearance that surprised thousands of fans

Following heavy rainfall on Thursday evening, the 2026 Electric Picnic crowds were treated to incredible performances and some drier weather over the festival weekend, with some Limerick acts stepping up and stepping in to impress crowds in the thousands.

Electric Picnic 2026 opened its gates on Thursday, August 27, for the early birds to take a much-sought-after space to pitch their tent as 80,000 Picnickers from across the country and beyond descended on the iconic Stradbally music festival in County Laois.

With headline acts such as Gorillaz, Fontaines DC, and CMAT taking to the main stage, music lovers from all over the world were given an extra treat this weekend when headliner Sombr invited special guests, Limerick’s Noel and Mike Hogan, to join them on stage for a rendition of their Cranberries hit Zombie, which had thousands of fans jumping and singing the classic.

The performance follows a well-received 2025 performance from the Hogan brothers, who joined Irish singer Dermot Kennedy for a special show backed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, playing iconic Cranberries Tracks such as Linger.

Following their performance with Sombr at this year’s Picnic, the American singer shared an appreciation post on their social media, saying, “Singing “Zombie” with The Cranberries Noel & Mike Hogan, as special guests during my Electric Picnic headline in Ireland, was surreal. What a dream. What an anthem. Legends. I will never forget this. Love you forever, Ireland.”

Also over the weekend, Limerick favourites and Electric Picnic regulars, Hermitage Green had their loyal supporters show up in the thousands, even when Irish rockers Fontaines DC were clashing as headliners on the timetable.

“We’ve been playing at Picnic for 15 years, and it is always an honour to get the call to grace those gorgeous green fields of Stradbally,” said the Limerick band, adding, “We were slightly apprehensive about clashing with the amazing Fontaines D.C. on the main stage this evening – yet behold, a massive crowd of ye gorgeous hags came down to see us anyway. We are a very happy HG tonight.”
