Full Moon Rising Festival returns for 2026, bringing the heart of Kilmeedy village alive on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September

The heart of Kilmeedy village will come alive on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September as Full Moon Rising Festival returns for another weekend of live music, family entertainment, great food and community spirit.

Set in the unique surroundings of Séanie’s old farmyard, Full Moon Rising brings the atmosphere of a traditional village festival together with the energy of a full-scale music event.

Importantly, Full Moon Rising is a 100% volunteer-led community festival, organised by local people for the benefit of the local community. All proceeds from the festival go towards the Community Development Fund, supporting projects and initiatives that benefit Kilmeedy and the surrounding area.

The festival gets underway on Friday 11th September with Kids Night, with gates opening at 6pm. The evening will feature games, a UV Disco, treats, ice cream and plenty of surprises for younger festivalgoers.

A major highlight will be the School of Rock, with four young bands and musicians taking to the main stage to perform in front of a live audience.

The event gives emerging performers the opportunity to experience the excitement of a festival stage, supported by family and friends. The sold-out Main Music & Food Event takes place on Saturday 12th September, with gates opening at 5.30pm.

Ten live acts will perform across three stages, featuring a mix of established Irish artists and emerging talent. This year’s festival theme is “Myths & Legends”, with festivalgoers encouraged to get into the spirit and dress up as their favourite mythical or legendary character.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, adding an extra element of fun to Saturday night. Festival organisers are particularly excited to welcome Paddy Casey and Mark McCabe to Kilmeedy this year.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Paddy Casey is one of Ireland’s best-known singer-songwriters, while Mark McCabe is renowned for his huge 1990s hit Maniac 2000, one of the biggest Irish singles of its era. Both artists will bring their distinctive live performances to the Full Moon Rising stage.

Festival organiser Dan Gayer said, “We’re delighted with this year’s festival and especially to welcome Paddy Casey and Mark McCabe to Kilmeedy. With 10 great acts across three stages, fantastic food and bars, the School of Rock on Friday night and our Myths & Legends theme, we’re looking forward to a brilliant weekend. It’s particularly rewarding to see the festival sell out and to know that the proceeds will go back into supporting our local community.”

Alongside the music, Saturday’s festival will feature a selection of food stalls, draught bars and a dedicated cocktail bar, creating a full evening of entertainment for festivalgoers. From young musicians taking their first steps on stage to established Irish artists performing for a sold-out crowd, Full Moon Rising celebrates music, creativity and community at the heart of Kilmeedy.
