The people of Limerick are being encouraged to nominate young local heroes for the 2026 Annual Garda Youth Awards

An Garda Síochána Limerick announced this week the launch of the 2026 Garda Youth Awards as they begin the search for young local heroes.
Now in its 11th year, the Annual Garda Youth Awards recognises young people within Limerick communities and the positive impact they are making in their areas.
Announcing the launch of the 2026 awards, An Garda Síochána Limerick said, “We are delighted to launch the 11th Annual Garda Youth Awards this week, in association with Garvey’s.
“The Garda Youth Awards celebrates outstanding young people and recognised the good work they are doing throughout our communities.
“Any young person or group, between the ages of 13 and 21, can be nominated for any kind of good work they are doing throughout Limerick City or County.”
Nominations are now open, and the Limerick public is encouraged to nominate young people they believe are local heroes. Nominations can be submitted by anyone, and further information is available on the Garda website.
The closing date for nominations for the Garda Youth Awards is February 28.
The Garda Youth Awards, at Divisional and National level, celebrates outstanding young people aged between 13 and 21 years, and recognises the good work they are doing throughout their communities.
The first ever Garda Divisional Youth Awards was created by a local Juvenile Liaison Officer in West Cork in 1995. He noticed that the young people in the community were doing tremendous things which deserved recognition. The awards has grown in leaps and bounds since then.
