Some of Limerick’s most talented young singers have been selected as members of the prestigious Irish Youth Choir.
Nikolas O’Brien, age 18, from Adare has been selected for the Irish Youth Choir for 18- to 25-year-olds, while Adriana Quinlan, from Annacotty, Annie Power, from Ballingarry, Róisín de Jongh, from Fedamore and Rebecca O’Gorman, from Rhebogue were selected as part of the 14- to 17-year-olds ensemble.
Both choirs meet annually to participate in a summer residential programme – an intensive week-long course held at University of Limerick, that culminates in a series of concerts for the public.

As part of the programme, the Irish Youth Choir for 18- to 25-year-olds is set to perform at the Irish Chamber Orchestra Hall, Limerick on Friday, 17th July and in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin on Saturday 18th July, following their week-long course in Limerick.
These concerts follow a successful first leg of the course, which saw the Irish Youth Choir for 14- to 17-year-olds perform at the same two venues on 2nd and 3rd July respectively.
The Irish Youth Choirs programme is run by Sing Ireland, and this year both choirs were directed by former Irish Youth Choir members, alumni Patrick Barrett and Lynsey Callaghan.
Commenting on the summer programme, Dermot O’Callaghan, CEO of Sing Ireland said: “The Irish Youth Choirs are our national youth choral ensembles and are at the heart of the next generation of choral singing in Ireland. They provide a distinctive national level experience that goes beyond what many young singers can access locally, creating opportunities to perform ambitious repertoire, work with exceptionally creative teams, and connect with like-minded singers from every part of the country, including those from Limerick, who share a passion for choral music.
“As the groups come together over the summer for the residential courses, we listen to them practice morning to night and are inspired by their talent. The summer concerts are a great opportunity for people to witness the immense singing talent we have in Limerick and across the country, and to share in the joy of choral music.”
