Limerick Area Irish Red Cross held its annual awards night, celebrating the work carried out by its dedicated group of volunteers throughout 2025.

They said, “Limerick Area Irish Red Cross recently held our Annual Area Awards night! Hosted at the Ballintemple Inn by our West Limerick branch. It is important to acknowledge and celebrate the work our volunteer members do.

“Without their time, effort, and smiles, some members of our community may not be able to reach their appointments, events could find it more difficult to ensure medical cover, and less members of the public would be First Aid trained,” adding, jokingly, “not to mention we’d need to start buying tickets for Munster matches”.

For their work in 2025, volunteers received awards for Novice Unit Member, Daniel Carmody (Limerick City); FAR Unit Member, Margaret Foley (Limerick City); EFR Unit Member, Brendan McCormack (Limerick City); EMT Unit Member, Niall Boland (Limerick City); Limerick East Unit Member, Patricia Collins; and Limerick South Unit Member, Coleman Dillon.

Limerick Area Irish Red Cross held its annual awards night, celebrating the work carried out by its dedicated group of volunteers throughout 2025.

Other awards were Limerick West Unit Member, Francis Kluzniak; Driver, Breda Flynn (Limerick City); Duty Hours, Mandy Davis (Limerick City); With 400+ volunteer hours given
Community Service, Mandy Davis (Limerick City); Area Member, Mary Grehan (Limerick City); and Long Service Awards went to Pat Dalton & Tommy Gray.

Limerick Area Members provided 11,500 volunteer hours providing medical cover at events in 2025, with the group saying, “This figure excludes training hours, providing courses for the public & our youth structure, and our many planning meetings. So you can just about double those hours.

“Huge thanks as always to our dedicated members! We don’t say it enough Congratulations to all our award winners. Mind you, we see all of our colleagues as winners.”
