Doras invited the public to free events celebrating the diversity of Limerick’s communities with the 2026 Limerick Says Welcome Family Fun Day
Join Doras this August for free events celebrating the diversity of our communities with the 2026 Limerick Says Welcome Family Fun Day.
The people of Limerick are invited to “bring your friends and family and come along for some food, music and fun” on Saturday, August 22 at Wickham Way.
The organisers said, “Come along for an afternoon of music, games, face painting and plenty of fun for all the family!”

Organised by the Limerick Anti-Racism Network, this free family day is a chance to celebrate the people and communities that make Limerick their home.
As part of the celebrations from Wednesday to Friday, August 26 to 28, the festival will see “Flavours Without Borders”, celebrating the diverse flavours brought to Limerick City and County by the migrant community at The Crescent, Limerick City Centre, outside the Doras offices.
The organisers said, “One of the many wonderful contributions of our vibrant migrant community is the delicious cuisine that has enriched our plates!
“Come along and sample delicious dishes from Ukraine, Palestine, Mexico, Syria and beyond, while enjoying music and celebrating the many cultures that make up our city.”
John Lannon, Doras CEO, told I Love Limerick at the 2025 event, “The city has been enriched over the years by people from all over the world who have come to work, to study. We’ve also had people who have escaped from wars, from persecution, who have made Limerick their home.”
Doras, founded in 2000, is a non-governmental organisation working to promote and protect the rights of refugees and migrants.
Limerick Anti-Racism Network, made up of a network of groups with the aim of helping overcome all forms of discrimination, described the event as a “beautiful day of solidarity” saying it is the city’s diversity that “makes us”.
