The beloved Limerick Sings International Choral Festival returns this summer with a dynamic programme of concerts, workshops, and unforgettable musical moments, welcoming choirs from across Ireland and beyond.

The festival opens on Thursday, 28th May at 7:00pm at University Concert Hall, with an inspiring performance by local and regional youth choirs. Under the baton of the acclaimed Máire Keary-Scanlon, the choirs will perform individually and come together as a massed ensemble for a powerful shared finale.

On Friday, 5th June, the spotlight turns to the acclaimed vocal ensemble APOLLO5, who will take to the stage at 7:00pm for an evening of music to move the soul. The dynamic vocal groups has earned a reputation for their ability to connect intimately with audiences whilst producing a rich, vibrant and versatile sound.

With a repertoire that embraces Renaissance, classical, and contemporary choral works, alongside folk, jazz, and pop, the group’s five voices vividly bring five centuries of music to life. Earlier that day at 4:30pm, APOLLO5 invites singers of all backgrounds to an engaging, interactive workshop where participants can enjoy singing together, pick up some tips from this acclaimed UK ensemble followed by a short Q&A.

Early risers on Saturday, 6th June, won’t want to miss the Outdoor Chorus, renowned soprano and past Eurovision winner Eimear Quinn, leads a very special choral workshop and performance at the Cliffs of Moher.

That evening at 8:30 pm, An Evening of Choirs in Concert, will feature local and visiting choirs performing a diverse programme including sacred, traditional and folk songs. All presented in the beautiful surrounds of Limerick City’s Redemptorist Church.

On the final day of the festival, Sunday, 7th of June Ross Scanlon will host the Lift Up Your Voices Workshop where participants of all levels of experience can enjoy a relaxed, supportive atmosphere to recharge, explore their sound, and share in the joy of making music together!

The festival concludes on Sunday evening at 4:30pm at St John’s Cathedral, for the delightful Afternoon Proms presented by Shirley Keane with a light choral programme being performed by local and visiting choirs – the perfect finale to a weekend of song.

He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
