Following a highly successful inaugural Lynch Cup in 2025, the event returns for 2026 to honour the memory of Sarah Lynch.

A crowd of more than 300 showed for the 2025 edition of the cup at Tom Clifford Park, Young Munster RFC, held in memory of one of the team’s founding members, Sarah Lynch.

Whether you’re playing, supporting from the sidelines, or joining for the afterparty, The Lynch Cup promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment for all involved.

Ahead of the second edition of the event, Sarsfields Rugby said, “The Lynch Cup is a celebration of Sarah Lynch’s legacy, bringing people together through inclusive tag and contact rugby, friendship and community. Join us on Saturday, 15th August at Young Munster RFC, Tom Clifford Park, Limerick for a day of rugby, pride and connection.”

The inclusive rugby tournament, featuring both tag and full contact matches, is held in memory of Sarah Lynch, one of Sarsfields’ original members who passed away in December 2023. For Sarsfields, the Lynch Cup represents both a tribute to a beloved teammate and a milestone for inclusive rugby in Ireland.

The Limerick-based rugby club said, “Sarsfields Rugby is honoured to present the second edition of The Lynch Cup! The first LGBTQIA+ inclusive, all-island tag and contact rugby tournament celebrating the remarkable legacy of our teammate and friend, Sarah Lynch.

“This isn’t just about rugby. It’s about pride, empowerment, and community — all in loving memory of Sarah, whose passion for inclusion continues to inspire us.”

With registration now closed for the tag tournament, a waiting list is available through the organisers; registration is still open for the contact tournament.

Spectators are welcome all day, with free entry, and afterparty tickets will be announced soon, with more information available through the Sarsfields Rugby social media platforms.
