2026 Munster League Hurling Final spot for Limerick against Waterford this Saturday, January 17
Limerick will face Waterford in Mallow GAA Complex on Saturday, January 17 in the 2026 Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League Final

Details have been announced for the 2026 Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League Final, where Limerick will face Waterford on Saturday, January 17 in Mallow GAA Complex. The final, with throw in at, at 3:15 pm will be overseen by referee John Bugler of Clare as up to 2,000 supporters will be eager to see the clash between the two group-topping teams.
Limerick reached the decider after a dramatic group stage in Group B which saw the Treaty team bounce back following a narrow 3-20 to 3-18 defeat against Clare in an opening round before dominating an experimental Cork side in a 1-28 to 0-16 clinical victory at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Limerick needed a favour from the Cork side as they needed the Rebels to beat the Banner team to reach the final, and with all three teams—Limerick, Clare, and Cork—finishing the group with one win each following Cork’s 1-point win over Clare, Limerick topped the table thanks to a superior scoring difference of +13.
Waterford claimed top spot in Group A, after a draw on the opening weekend against Tipperary, before their demolition of a Kerry team with a score of 6-26 to 0-6 allowed them to finish top of their group on points difference over Tipp.
Following Limerick’s win over Cork, manager John Kiely told TG4 Spórt, “A lot of those lads haven’t had a game for quite some time. They’ve had five or six weeks of work done now in the preseason, they’re mad to get out and just play a game, and this has been a beautiful evening here – seven, eight degrees, beautiful pitch, great condition.”
He added, “Just to get out, get a game under our belts. And it was a nice mix of experience with youth. And so those that hadn’t maybe so much to experience, and I thought overall the cohesiveness was quite good.”
The Limerick manager said he was impressed with the “overall attitude” of the performance. He said, “ I thought every play, they worked as hard as they could. It didn’t always go right for them. When we made mistakes, we worked hard to recover and get the ball back. And I thought we communicated well across the lines.”
The game is set to kick off at 3:15pm, and will be shown live on TG4.
