Aisling Annacotty AFC and Fairview Rangers AFC celebrate 2026 National Schoolboy Cup glory in their respective age-groups, marking a historic double for Limerick soccer

In the U15 National Cup Final in Dublin, Fairview Rangers AFC edged a thrilling contest against St Kevin’s Boys.

Sunday marked a historic day for underage Limerick soccer as Aisling Annacotty AFC and Fairview Rangers AFC took to the field in the National Schoolboy Cup in U-14 and U-15, respectively, with both teams bringing silverware back to the Treaty City.

The day marked an incredible achievement for Limerick underage soccer with Aisling Annacotty putting six past their Dingle Bay Rovers opposition to come out on top in the under-14 final with a final score of 6-1.

Sharing the news on social media, Aisling Annacotty AFC said it was a special day with their team showing from the off they “meant business”. They said, “What a day for Aisling Annacotty, our U14s travelled to Kilkenny to play Dingle Bay Rovers in the U14 National Cup Final. It was clear from the kick-off that our boys meant business, going close to scoring in the opening minutes.

“Cheered on by a huge travelling support opened the scoring & from then on we never looked back. The goals kept coming (Killian x 3, Ben, Bobby and Eli & although DBR got a consolation goal, the result was never in doubt. Thanks to DBR for a very sporting game & a huge thanks to Derek, Gordon & Ronan for all their work with our boys. An historic day for our Club as we win our first national title. We are exceptionally proud of our U14s, congratulations boys.”

Aisling Annacotty AFC put 6 past Dingle Bay Rovers on the day

In the U15 National Cup Final in Dublin, Fairview Rangers AFC edged a thrilling contest against St Kevin’s Boys. With Fairview Rangers conceding first, a first-half equaliser from Dan Healy saw the sides stay level before Ciaran Maher gave the Limerick side the win in extra time.

On Facebook, Fairview Rangers shared, “Dan Healy dragged us level in the first half with a neat bottom corner finish. The game was tight from then on as both teams pushed for the winner. In the second half of extra time, up stepped captain Ciaran Maher, who turned his marker excellently and slotted home the winner. Historic day for Fairview Rangers as we bring a National Schoolboy Cup to the Fairgreen. Well done to Wes, Jeff, Adam and Haytam and the squad!”

Jonathan Delaney of Jonathan Delaney Coaching shared his pride in seeing one of his players lift the silverware, saying, “Our own JDC player Aden France was on the Fairview Rangers team (Pictured with his family) and we are so very proud of him. Aden has been with us since we started JDC, along with his brother Josh, and they are two exceptional players and fantastic young people. Congratulations to Nuala and Darran France. Aden, you are a National Champion! We are so very happy for you!”

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
