Limerick City and County Council invites tenders for a €200,000 Park and ride system for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor

The tender process is now open for a €200,000 Park and Ride system to help deliver transport infrastructure from various locations in Limerick County for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
Tender documents made available online show plans for a temporary park and ride system, which Limerick City and County Council aim to have operating as part of the event running from September 13 to 19, 2027.
It is hoped the system will operate as part of a wider transport strategy to accommodate the large numbers of visitors expected to attend the 100th edition of the biennial golf competition.
The council has identified several potential park and ride locations across the county, including Croagh West, Croagh North, Croagh South, Patrickswell Field and Race Course, and the Macket site, with a note that a site under construction may either be added to the list or replace one of the sites. It is hoped the locations will provide parking for more than 24,000 vehicles
The contract will run for 24 months, with submissions for the tender due by April 13 with more information available online. The Ryder Cup is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region, with figures from the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome generating an estimated €262 million for Italy.
Recently, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, announced funding from his Department of up to €5.7m to help ensure that the 2027 Ryder Cup produces a lasting legacy in Adare and in Limerick.
Key projects that have been identified include the refurbishment and extension of Adare Village Hall; the refurbishment of Adare Heritage Centre; the enhancement of the Adare Public Realm and a tree planting sustainability initiative.
