The 21st Annual Robert Burns Night event begins at 6:00 pm with free entry for all attendees, making it a must-visit occasion for fans of poetry, music, and Scottish culture.

This year’s celebration, as in previous editions of the event, promises a memorable evening of tradition and entertainment. The Mayor of Limerick will officially open the festivities, followed by Michael Egan piping in the haggis, a staple of the Burns Night supper. Phila Grace will lend her voice to the songs of Robert Burns, while Gordon Lessells will perform a spirited rendition of Tam O’Shanter.

Attendees can look forward to an abundance of Scottish treats, including shortbread, Tunnock’s Teacakes, and Scot Clan Sweets. Spot prizes, including bottles of Scottish whisky, will be awarded throughout the evening, adding to the merriment.

In addition to live music, poetry readings, and plenty of dancing, the event embraces its community spirit. Guests are encouraged to contribute by performing a piece of literature or song in honor of the Scottish Bard.

Robert Burns Night has been celebrated globally since 1801, and in Limerick for 21 years, for live updates, follow the Facebook page Robert Burns Night Limerick. Don’t miss this evening of “tipsy dance and jollity”!

Burns Night is a time to enjoy Scottish traditions and celebrate the renowned poet Robert Burns with a classic combination of haggis, neeps, tatties, some reciting of poetry, and maybe even a warming dram. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate Scotland‘s enduring legacy of creativity.
